Why is my dog pooping so much? Is it their food or overfeeding?

I am not sure what you are feeding but you should pick a high quality food that is easily to digest. Some of the lower quality foods will cause dogs to defecate more because the food is not very digestible. If he is having diarrhea then have your vet test a fecal sample for parasites.

While it is normal for a puppy to potty several times throughout the night until they gain control of their bladder muscles, it is unusual to be pooping 4 times a night. Puppies do have more bowel movements than adult dogs. Most adult dogs typically have two to three movements a day but this is very much impacted by their food. I don't think Odin should be defecating that much. Sounds like a lot! It may be related to his diet. You may want to try a low residue food for your dog. If you put "low residue dog food " into your browser, it should come up with a large variety. Feeding this should reduce the amounts of feces significantly.

If the stool isn't diarrhea and is formed then I would blame the digestibility of the food you are feeding and would change brands of food. Individual dogs can digest the same food differently. Yes it is likely the extra fiber. No worries here whatsoever. Some puppies do poop quite a bit and 2-3 times a day is normal as long as the poop is solid. I would however, but back on the daily egg, since this is mostly just added carbs for pets and can lead to her getting overweight. Best wishes with your puppy Tasha. Take care.
