My dog's poop is two colors. Should I worry about new supplements?

I'm really glad to hear that Mugi is still eating and acting normally! Stool color can change with any different food (not even just orange foods) as a result of how the bile and gut bacteria shift in response. I definitely understand your concern because finding stool with orange and greenish coloration can seem a bit disconcerting. The good news is that there really isn't anything you need to worry about since Mugi otherwise seems so normal. Just continue to keep an eye on her and any other changes to her stool color. However, if she becomes lethargic, experiences a loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in her water consumption/urine volume, then it's worth taking a trip to the vet for evaluation to rule out other medical issues. Changes in stool color can happen, especially if there was a change in the diet. I would not be concerned about a one-time color change if Peggy Sue is otherwise normal. If she has a poor appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea, then she should get checked out by a vet.

Sometimes a change in diet will cause the stool to change color. Sometimes a mild viral infection can also cause this but again, I would not worry unless she loses her appetite or becomes lethargic. Milk thistle usually does not change the color of stool, although there are many different supplements available and it is possible that there is another ingredient in your supplement that is to blame. I would not be concerned about yellow colored stool as long as it is formed and Chika is not having any difficulty defecating.

Without seeing the stools myself it is hard for me to say. What you may consider black I may consider normal dark brown color. It may just be their GI tract getting used to processing the new food. If they are acting normally I would not be overly concerned. Omegas are regularly recommended and are usually pretty benign to give however, they can interfere with clotting if not given the correct dose. Are you giving them a product made for dogs? If not, I suggest you do that. Humans and dogs need different ratios of the Omega 3 to Omega 6. Hope this helps. The change is stool color is probably from the medication or new supplement. It doesn’t look like it is from blood from the photo. As long as he’s feeling fine finish the antibiotics and check the stool after they are done. It should go back to his normal stool color. The green color is likely dye from something your pet ingested. I recommend monitoring the stool to see if it changes back to normal color within the next day or two .Chances are it will. Also monitor Pickles a bit more closely to make sure he isn't ingesting something he shouldn't have. If he starts to have any other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy or decreased appetite, then its best to have him seen by your local vet. Also, if there is any chance Pickles could have gotten into some kind of rat poison/bait, then he should be seen right away. It wouldn't be a bad idea also to go ahead and give Pickles a probiotic to support a healthy GI tract moving forward. Some options that don't require a prescription are: Culturelle (over the counter) OR Foriflora (online, Chewy.com). I hope that Pickles stool returns to normal color soon.
