My dog's poop is off-white, but she's normal. Should I worry?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would worry about acholic feces which is the absence of bile in the stool. This is when the bile is retained in the blood which makes a dogs stools pale or putty colored. This can indicate an bile obstruction, liver or pancreatic disease. White stools can also be seen in dogs eating a raw food diet or a diet too high in calcium or if they ate something containing bone. If Gracie's stools continue to be white bring a sample and Gracie to the Vet for an exam. I wish you the best!

This can be a sign that the food she has eaten is moving too quickly through the GI tract to pick up bile. It can also be a sign of a liver or biliary issue. Given that she is ok otherwise, I'd keep an eye on her for now. If she develops other signs such as vomiting, lethargy, or loss of appetite, then I would be very concerned and have her seen by an ER vet right away. Otherwise, it's fine to wait until Monday to have her seen. This weekend, feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice. I hope this helps.

Your dog has most likely gotten into something that has caused her stool to be abnormal. I would keep an eye on her for now. If thenstool continues to be abnormal or if she starts vomiting and/or having liquidy stools I would take her to the vet to be checked out. I hope this helps. This is just pale feces. All it means is that there was not as much bilirubin in the stool as normal. This can happen normally for a variety of reasons. If you just noticed this once and Coco is otherwise acting normal, then I would not be concerned and would just monitor for any other changes. If this persists for more than three days and she is having other signs of illness (i.e. decreased appetite, vomiting), then it would be best to take her to your vet for an evaluation, because it could indicate a digestive disorder. Shades of stool color can vary widely from day to day, hour to hour, or (as you experienced) within the same bowel movement. Typically, diet and supplements are the main sources of changes in stool color, so the supplement that you're using may be to blame. The color of the supplement or food are less to blame for the color change than the way some of the vitamins and minerals digest. Regardless, since Chispas is still eating and acting normally, there's no cause for concern. Shades of brown in stool are all normal. However, colors like black, red, or white stool are all signs that something is amiss. Based on what you've described, I don't think you need to be concerned in the slightest!

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Feces should be a dark brown color, this is completely normal. It should be firm but not too dry. I would continue to monitor Luna's stools for any changes. If you see a pattern that is abnormal (red blood, dark black stool can be a sign of bleeding high in the intestinal tract, gelatinous stools mean the colon may be inflammed or whipworms are present, very light color stools, very loose stools, very dry stools) then you should contact your veterinarian and discuss what is going on. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Personally the color doesn't bother me but the consistency does. That is diarrhea. It is too soft and not formed. I would go back to the Royal Canin food as it sounds like he digests that one better. Be sure though that he has had his stool tested for intestinal parasites and is up to date on his DHPP vaccines.
