My dog has a sensitive stomach. Are natural pig ears safe? Any cons?

Pig's ears can be OK in small quantities and with strict monitoring, however large pieces can cause a young dog (and even older dogs) to choke, so removing any pieces that become too soft or pose a choking hazard is best. Other toys such as a Kong filled with treats or peanut butter, or a Nylabone that is more digestible and chewable are great safer alternatives to give and still stimulate chewing needs.

It could be that the pig ear causing Capone some stomach upset and that might be why he isn't eating. Pig ears are fine to give to dogs as occasional treats, and I give them to my dogs occasionally as well. It's a good sign that he is playful and drinking water. I would monitor him tonight, and try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts. You can also try soaking his dry food in gently warmed low sodium beef or chicken broth. Should he still not want to eat by the morning, I would have him seen by a vet for a health check just to be safe :-)

The pig ears and chicken sticks typically have a lot of preservatives in them and can cause GI upset. I usually recommend the Kong toys filled with peanut butter or dental chew sticks like Oravet or Greenies. If Honey does ok with the chews you are giving her now, then in moderation these should be ok to give her every now and then. Poor Buster. I can give you home remedy to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. If Anfinneg has never had a pig ear before, it could be making him nauseous leading to the drooling. I'd keep an eye on him for now and if he's still drooling a lot in the morning, have him seen by a vet.

As long as Bailey is behaving normally otherwise, you can try withholding food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Begin with one tablespoon of food every hour and gradually increase the amount. Feed bland until the stool is normal then transition slowly to the regular diet. See your veterinarian if Bailey develops lethargy, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain or if the stool has the appearance of raspberry jelly. A bland diet is plain white rice mixed with one of the following: cottage cheese, boiled boneless/skinless chicken breasts, cooked/drained ground beef or cooked/drained ground turkey.
