Pitbull puppy has black specks/pimple on penis after neuter. Is it infected?

Sometimes it does require antibiotics to take care of it. You can bathe him with a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine which you may get at your local pet store. You can bathe him twice weekly for 2 weeks. If it does not improve, have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck!

I recommend bathing him with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula for puppies. Make sure that he is not licking the area. You can try to use chlorhexidine containing pads (such as the Douxo chlorhexidine 3% PS pads) to clean the are twice daily for 7 days. You may find these online or at your local pet store. This could be a bacterial skin infection. If any urine gets trapped on his fur or any moisture, this can predispose them to infection. I would recommend using a spray such as malacetic conditioning spray and apply to the area until resolved. Some dogs will have black skin pigmentation in this area that can appear as black specks, especially if they have a history of allergies or itching in this area. These spots could be due to a underlying skin infection or a skin mite called demodex. If there are only the 3 small spots you can try to treat them topically at home with neosporin. If they sites do not resolve or if you begin to notice more spots I would recommend taking Maddox to the vet to be checked out.
