My dog is having pee accidents. Could it be related to past illness?

Vomiting can be observed with gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, food sensitivity, foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. I think that this is less likely due to xylitol toxicity at this point but there is always the possibility that this could be due to long lasting effects to the liver which is possible with this toxicity. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. It's possible that while Kiwi is going more frequently, the volume has not increased. In either case, this is a concerning symptom that should be checked out by your vet. Possible issues such as metabolic illnesses, urinary tract infections, etc can all cause an increase in urination and accidents so having a thorough exam done is best.

Poor Kiwi! Keep an eye on her for now, offer her canned food with water added to flush her bladder in case she has another uti. If she is still acting this way in the morning, I'd be concerned and have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps.

Xylitol causes hypoglycemia and potentially liver failure. If Arlo May have ingested xylitol in the past 48 hours I’d recommend contacting the Pet Poison Helpline (www.petpoisonhelpline.com). If it’s been more than 48 hours I’d recommend seeing your vet to have them check liver values.

You don't indicate whether Opal is spayed or not, but I would add that urination while sleeping is often a sign of a condition called hormonal incontinence (also "spay incontinence") which is caused by the lack of estrogen that happens once we spay dogs. I would definitely get her checked out as she may have a UTI as Dr. Melanie indicated, or an incontinence issue.

No, this ingestion of soap is likely not related to Lou urinating frequently and having accidents in the house. Soap is generally non toxic. It sounds like he may have a UTI. I would have him seen by a vet tomorrow for a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis to diagnose if he does have a UTI. If he does have one, he will need antibiotics to treat it.
