My puppy recovered from parvo, why are his hind legs weak?

This is a sign of extreme weakness, your puppy is obviously still very far from recovering from Parvo, you need to make sure he stays hydrated, if he isn't vomiting you need to encourage him to drink as much as possible, and of course continue with the treatment your vet gave you.

Hello. This is most likely just due to how the puppy developed in utero. Hopefully, with time, the legs will strengthen. You can very gently manipulate the legs, doing range of motion exercises, but it would be best to have your veterinarian examine the puppy & show you the best way to help this little one. Clinical signs of good appetite, normal activity and mental status and no more vomiting or diarrhoea episodes are usually signs of good recovery. It sounds like Harley is not recovering very well. Extreme weakness is certainly something that requires an immediate veterinary check up at your local veterinarian. Loss of appetite and diarrhea can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. He could be weak on his hind end from not eating before and/or from dehydration so that could be connected. I recommend that you have Kip evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. I am so pleased to hear that Bubu is recovering from parvo. It has probably weakened her a great deal and she needs time and support to have a full recovery. Try the following; Add boneless boiled chicken breast to her food to increase nutrient in take You can reserve some of the brother from cooking the chicken for hydration Consider a trip to the veterinarian for fluids over a 24 hour period to rehydrate her body and help her perk up. I'm very sorry Ghost has parvo! He could have accidentally injured himself somehow at the vet's, which would cause the limping and reluctance to stand. Given that he's going back to the vet in 12 hours, I would keep him quiet for now. Have him rest as much as possible, take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. When he's back at the vet's later, they can assess him for the cause of the limping.
