My dog won't eat due to moving stress, but seems fine. Should I worry?

I'm glad to hear that Bentley is still playful and acting normally, even though he hasn't been eating and drinking normally. It is possible that both the stress of leaving his sister and your family, as well as moving to a new home may be contributing to his change in appetite. You can try tempting him to eat with a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days (1.5 cups per day, divided into smaller meals). After a few days, transition to his normal dog food by mixing the two foods together over another 5-7 days. It may also be worth looking into calming pheromone collars or diffusers (Adaptil is one example - https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/dog/dog-health-and-wellness/dog-calming-aids/adaptil-adjustable-calming-dog-collar) to try to help Bentley's stress level. If he still refuses to eat in a few days, it is worth a trip to the vet to assure that there aren't bigger medical problems occurring. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

If Chewbacca is still active and drinking and not having vomiting or diarrhea, I would give him more time. Movin can be stressful and it isn't necessary for dogs to eat every day. I know you want him to eat but he may need to acclimate to the new place before he decides to eat. If he is acting ill, I recommend taking him to a vet to make sure nothing else is going on. I would also visit PetCo for Adaptil, a pheromone to help calm pets in stressful situtation. Talk to your vet about other behavior supplements like Composure or Zylkene. I hope this helps. Hello. I am so sorry for your worries with Stormi. This may very well still be an adjustment peroid for her. You can try warming her food a bit, & even hand feeding her until she seems more secure in her surroundings. You should also be very careful in the number of treats & amount of human food you are giving her. Dogs very rarely will starve themselves unless there is a medical reason for the loss of appetite, but it is easy to satisfy a small dog with even a few extra treats each day. Hello. Certainly animals can be quite in tune with what is going on around them, especially some dogs that are sensitive. Changes in routine & emotions can definitely play a part. It does not hurt to speak with your veterinarian about this, as they know Apollo's health best, but if he is otherwise acting fairly normal, & just seems a bit off o his appetite, you can monitor things for awhile. It could be that Remy is teething and that's why he's not eating as much. You can try soaking his food in gently warmed low sodium beef or chicken broth, or you try mixing together dry food and canned food. If he's still not eating much in another 48 hours, I would bring him back into the vet for a health check.

Offer a canned food that has a strong odor. Warming it slightly, mixing in a teaspoon of baby food or mixing in water from a can of tuna may stimulate her appetite. A pheromone product such as Feliway spray or plug in diffuser may decrease any anxiety related to the move. An "allergy friendly" diet would be difficult to recommend without knowing everything your dog has allergies against. What you can do is discuss allergy testing and hydrolyzed diets with your veterinarian. Read ingredient labels for possible allergens.
