My dog's nose is itchy with a red blister. Should I see a vet?

Yes, this could be a histiocytoma but it is very hard to say for sure. Many masses can look the same to the naked eye. Histiocytomas are more likely to occur in younger dogs; since he is older I would a bit more concerned. I suggest you leave it alone for now and just monitor it. If it is a histiocytoma it should go away on it's own. If it does not go away in about 6-8 weeks OR it starts to bother him or get larger, then have your vet check it by doing a fine needle aspirate (they will get some cells with a needle and look at them under the microscope to see what this is). She will likely need a procedure known as a fine needle aspirate to diagnose the mass. There is a benign growth known as a histiocytoma that is common in young dogs. A lesion like that could be several things including an ingrown hair, allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection or a skin tumor/mass. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesion once a day (not her whole body, just the lesion). Also protect the area from trauma by having your pup wear an elizabethan collar at all times. That are certainly weird looking! Depending on when those lesions started and if they seem to be itchy, my presumptive diagnosis might differ considerably. It is possible that Cami might have been sticking in muzzle in an area that she shouldn't have been, resulting in some sort of irritation, and the lesions you currently see. They do definitely appear to be red, inflamed, and possibly infected based on the picture. Another possibility is that there is an immune-mediated condition that could be the cause of this. There is a disease known as Pemphigus that is known to cause skin lesions near the nose. I would definitely take Cami into the vet to have these areas assessed, and have some preliminary diagnostics run on the affected portions of the skin. Hope this helps!

I would have that checked out by a vet. This lesion is concerning for certain fungal and parasitic lesions that can get much worse if left too long. I also worry about skin cancer in white-faced dogs, so it will be good to have this ruled-out as a potential cause. No need to panic, just get it checked out in a day or two. For now, you can keep the wound clean by blotting it with a cloth soaked in warm water. Do this twice a day and avoid scrubbing.

That could be many things including ringworm (which humans can get), autoimmune condition or even cancer. I recommend to have Blaze examined by the veterinarian. Just like humans, non-healing lesions are worrisome. Better to play it safe. I hope this helps.

This appears to either be a blister or a small mass. You can try placing a cold compress on the area for 5 minutes if tolerated twice daily. I would not recommend topical Neosporin becuase of the location and the likelihood that it will just be licked off. Monitor the area for the next 7-10 days. If it is a blister it wil slowly go down on its own. If it does not, then it is a skin mass and the next steps would be to have it tested through your vet.
