My dog's mouth is pinkish red. Is it allergies or breed-specific?

This redness could be related to seasonal allergies as well, and it's possible that Dakota has a secondary skin infection. Mites or even fungal disease could cause symptoms like this as well. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian to see if they think antibiotics or other medications may be necessary.

From the photo, Puddin’s mouth does look red and I am suspicious of an infection or an allergic reaction. This could be a normal color change. However if it becomes very red, raw, ulcerated or crusted it could indicate an autoimmune disease or infection and then Duke needs to be examined by his veterinarian.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Hello, sorry to hear about Truff. It looks like she is having allergies and does not necessarily have to be associated with food aversions. Even if she wasn't allergic to her food previously, she could have developed an allergy just recently. Alternatively, Truff could also be allergic to things in her environment such as plants, pollen, house mites, and even other pets. If her redness continues, if she develops any itching, tearing of her eyes, or if she becomes very lethargic, then she should be evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. Poor guy. Yes this does seem to be a localized reaction and it could be to just about anything that has been newly introduced or even something Mork got into that he is having an allergic reaction to. I wouldn’t suspect this is caused by brushing his teeth too hard because this is his lip area that looks irritated. It’s best to visit your vet for some medication to help combat this reaction, especially if this area is bothering him and not improving on its own within a few days.
