Is my dog's red mouth an infection or allergy? Should I see a vet?

She is cute. She could have some allergies, especially if she is licking or chewing on her body, causing the redness and you could talk to your vet about trying an antihistamine to see if that helps. If it doesn't seem to be bothering her, you could also just monitor for a bit and see how it changes.

Please, take Rona to your local vets for an appointment. She will likely need a course of antibiotics in form of tablets or ointment/cream.

Poor guy. Yes this does seem to be a localized reaction and it could be to just about anything that has been newly introduced or even something Mork got into that he is having an allergic reaction to. I wouldn’t suspect this is caused by brushing his teeth too hard because this is his lip area that looks irritated. It’s best to visit your vet for some medication to help combat this reaction, especially if this area is bothering him and not improving on its own within a few days. This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any).
