How to heal a dog's mouth cut from a bone, especially with drool?

There is most likely a wound in the mouth which is why he is drooling. I highly recommend having him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I wouldn't recommend any topical medications around the mouth. If she seems comfortable and her teeth all seem okay, it's probably okay to monitor the laceration. The mouth tends to heal quickly. If she seems painful or you start to notice yellow, green or foul smelling discharge from the wound make an appointment with your veterinarian.

I would recommend a pet formulated mouth rinse (from your local pet store) to cleanse the area. Then you can place a thin layer of Neosporin on the area to help it heal. Drooling over time can cause moist pyoderma (skin infections). I would also look into why Scarlett is having excessive drooling. Dental disease is usually the cause.

This sore could just be from an injury. I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep him from scratching at it, you can put an Ecollar on him. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I'd also have him seen by a vet if the sore doesn't appear to be healing over the next week. I will put a link below on how to make an Ecollar at home. I'm sorry to hear about Sooky's injury. If the bleeding has stopped, you can clean the area gently with a clean washcloth to remove any dirt and dried on blood. Preventing her from pawing at or licking the wound (if possible) with an Elizabethan (cone) collar can help the area to heal. If she is bleeding profusely, there is something stuck in her mouth, throat, or on her face, or the bleeding is not stopping on its own, then it is best to seek veterinary care immediately to rule out any more serious injury and get the bleeding stopped.

Poor pup! I'm sorry to hear that she's having this problem. There are a number of different things that could cause problems with closing the mouth and excessive drooling like this, so it's hard to say what might be wrong without being able to examine her. Some common possibilities would include an injury to the mouth or jaw, a tumor or infection in the mouth, or a neurologic problem such as a stroke. I would recommend taking your dog to the vet for an exam today, if possible, since some of these problems can be quite serious. Your vet can do a complete neurologic exam and may also sedate her so that a thorough oral exam can be performed as well. Once a diagnosis is made, he/she can talk to you about what treatment will be needed.
