Can I give my dog methocarbamol if he's limping and on heart meds?

However, I do not recommend that you administer any medications if they have not been prescribed by a veterinarian as some of these medications can cause side effects and pre-screening bloodwork should be performed. Use caution. The methocarbamol is a muscle relaxant and has some sedative effects. The Benadryl, as an antihistamines, can be sedating as well. Given together, they may cause extreme lethargy or sedation. Discuss your concerns with your vet prior to administering this combination of medications.

Unfortunately, it's illegal for us to advise you to give any medication to your pet without first doing a physical exam - so this is not something we can do over the internet. I can tell you, however, that Robaxin is not likely to be helpful since it's a muscle relaxant, not a pain medication per se. It's sometimes used as an adjunct treatment for dogs with certain types of back pain, but wouldn't do much good for other types of soreness. If you're not able to get Max in to see an emergency vet tonight, the best option would be to keep him confined in a relatively small area such as a crate or small room, so that he can't be too active and make the injury worse. Then take him in to see your regular veterinarian tomorrow.

At his weight, that's 1,225mg to 3,500mg. You gave him 1000mg, which is actually below the recommended dose range. You did not overdose him, and things will be ok. I hope this helps!

That is a very commonly-used combination of meds for a pinched nerve or disc problem in dogs, so as long as your dog is tolerating the medication well and you are giving is as prescribed by your veterinarian, I would not have any concerns at all.

I do not recommend using paracetamol without a veterinary evaluation. There are other arthritis supplements that you can start which would not hurt if this happens to not be due to arthritis and if it is, they can help a good amount. There are several joint supplements out there such as Cosequin and Dasuquin, among others. I would encourage you to start with that and if no improvement is observed, Rodger should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!
