Infections in the testicles are not generally expected to result in weight loss unless it is some on-going, low grade, chronic issue that causes the appetite to be decreased for a long period of time. An acute infection will cause a pet to not eat for a few days but this is not expected to cause a significant weight loss. I have learned though, that pet's don't always follow the expected course every single time. A cancer in the testicles will cause swelling of the testicle and will cause weight loss as it progresses and metastasizes. If you are noticing swelling in the testicles and/or weight loss, I recommend to have Bear seen by his veterinarian right away. Weight loss can occur for many reasons - from parasites to cancer to kidney disease. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Poor Bear! You could try to entice him to eat with some plain boiled boneless, skinless chicken and white rice. If is still is refusing the eat and doesn't eat by the end of the day or is acting lethargic I would have your vet take a look at him. If the swelling of the testicle isn't improving quickly, I would talk to your vet about neutering him if he is healthy enough to go under anesthesia and sending the testicle off for histopathology to see if it is cancerous. Poor Storm! It's hard to say for sure what might be causing this without seeing him. From what you describe, I would be concerned that he may have a testicular infection or even testicular cancer. If his belly looks swollen, this is often a sign of fluid in the abdomen, which can be caused by cancer, liver failure, heart disease, or internal bleeding. It does sounds like this is a serious problem, so I would recommend having him seen by a vet right away - he/she can do blood work and x-rays to help determine the problem and see what can be done to help him.

Infection in the body can be the cause of weight loss if they are sick enough. After it is treated, if the weigh loss continues, you need to move forward with imaging. Radiographs and ultrasound, basically you are looking for any signs of cancer or internal organ disease that could also cause weight loss. If you are worried about this things, you do not need to wait until treatment for infection is over, you can discuss getting those diagnostics done with your veterinarian. Unfortunately it's impossible to say without being able to examine Bruno in person. A testicular tumor could swell and cause an increase in size that could resolves with an antibiotic or steroid injection. Infections like Brucella or other bacteria could cause testicular swelling. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Bruno to determine what might be the cause.
