Why is my dog limping, losing weight, dizzy, and has green eye discharge?

my dog started limping, lost weight and has a green eye discharge. he is eating ok, but seems dizzy and falls over. his gums were very pale but now very red.

You need to take Ace to a vet for treatment, it sounds like he is very unwell. Weight loss and weakness are not good signs, I worry that he might have a bad infection or possibly a tumour. The vet would have to give him a thorough examination and possibly do some blood tests to know what is wrong. There isn't much you can do at home aside from feeding him tasty things like liver to try and support him.

Sounds like Ace is definitely having some significant issues. I'll be perfectly honest, I don't know about much of the local geographic health issues in a place like Botswana. However, if this were a patient of mine in rural Pennsylvania, I would be leaning towards a tick-borne disease such as Lyme or Anaplasma. If there are known diseases could by insects in your part of the world, this would be something that I would consider high on my list of possibilities. The paleness in the gums (regardless of it looking different now) is very concerning to me. I would definitely recommend having your veterinarian take a look at Ace to determine if further diagnostics are required. If you can, I would suggest obtaining a body temperature at home (do so with a regular thermometer). Also, check for hydration status by looking at Ace's skin elasticity. If the skin returns directly to the body when you tent it, hydration is likely within normal limits. Hope this makes sense.

The quivering could be a sign that he is running a fever. Being a dachshund, I would also be concerned that he has injured his back as we see a lot on Intervertebral Disc Disease in this breed. If you have the ability to have Ace evaluated by your veterinarian, a diagnosis can be made & he proper treatment started to get Ace feeling better as soon as possible. I hope all is well soon. Why is my dog having diarrhea, not eating, limping, and goopy eyes?

Poor girl! It sound like she has a possible infection. Certain infections can affect the limbs and also make the pet feel yucky all around, causing a lack of appetite. I would definitely recommend taking Callie in to your vet for blood work analysis to hopefully pinpoint where the problem is and look for evidence of an infection, so that she is treated promptly with the necessary medications (I.e. Antibiotics) to help her recover from her illness.

My dog is thin, weak, not eating, and has eye issues. What's wrong?

It sounds like she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause of her problems. It is very concerning that she is thin and weak and your vet can run some lab-work to screen for kidney disease, liver disease, endocrine diseases, etc. Your vet can also take x-rays, if needed, to look for any abnormalities that would cause decreased appetite and weight loss. She could also have a problem with her teeth and your vet can do a dental evaluation. She may need an antibiotic to treat a conjunctivitis. Please call a vet and schedule a check up.

This is very concerning as many of these signs point to a serious viral infection such as canine distemper. Please take Latte to your vet today. I hope it is not distemper, as this disease is not curable and very debilitating. It causes nerve damage and treatment is only supportive. Your dog could also have encephalitis/meningitis and this must be treated by a vet as well. Please take her to a vet today. Your vet will need to take blood and examine your dog.

My dog is limping, sleeping more, and not eating. What's wrong?

Lameness, loss of appetite and energy are definitely concerning. This can be caused by tick borne diseases such as Lyme disease. There are also certain bone and joint diseases that only affect growing puppies, and need to be ruled out with an x-Ray. I recommend having your appointment sooner rather than later, you may want to call your vet and ask for an earlier appointment.

Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Timmy evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I would encourage you to consider an emergency veterinarian.
