My dog is lethargic after Frontline Plus. Is this normal? What to do?

Lethargy is a very general sign of illness in dogs, and can be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. Lethargy isn't a side effect of Frontline, so I'm suspecting that it may be to to a medical illness. As long as Scout is eating and drinking normally as well as going to the bathroom normally, I would keep an eye on her for now. Should she still be lethargic in 48 hours, then I would be concerned and take her into the vet for an exam. If she stops eating and drinking, and develops other signs such as vomiting or diarrhea, then I would take her into a vet right away. I hope this helps!

This will remove the product from his skin and should provide him with some relief. Then he should follow up with his veterinarian tomorrow. I agree, it's impossible to know if this is unrelated (symptoms like this could be due to a compressed disc in the spine or cranial abdominal pain) or a reaction to the flea medication. I recommend to play it safe and have Harvey examined by the veterinarian. The doctor will likely get an idea of pain or skeletal abnormality from the physical exam. So cats are very sensitive to flea treatments, and her symptoms seem to match up with flea treatment toxicity (except for urinating outside the litter box). It may be that the Frontline is causing her problems. I would wash off the Frontline now, give her a bath to get it off if you applied it within the last 24 hours. If it's been more than 24 hours, have her seen by a vet now. Depending on when you applied the Fronline, either wait a week (if the Frontline was applied in the last 24 hours) or two weeks since the application (if apply longer than 24 hours ago), then use a different flea treatment program like Revolution or Advantage. I would not use Frontline again. As for urinating outside the box, this could be due to feline idiopathic cystitis. Stress can bring this on, and a reaction to flea treatment can be stressful. If Lilith ingested Frontline, there isn't much you can do for her at home unfortunately. She really needs to be seen by a veterinarian. They will at the very least give her some fluids to help hydrate her and flush the substance out. She may also need more treatments such as blood work and medication.

He could be having an adverse reaction to the flea/tick medication. Give him a bath immediately! Then contact your local vet to have him examined and treated for an acute allergic reaction. The most important thing though is to wash off the product. Using dawn dish detergent works best to strip the product off. There is a chance that he has absorbed a good bit of the medication already, but this will help prevent further absorption and subsequent illness. Most adverse reactions to flea/tick products do well with time (minimum 12 hrs to see improvement). I hope your puppy Harley recovers soon!

Poor Mac! I would definitely bathe him thoroughly to get the product off of him. An oatmeal shampoo may help soothe him. And if he is 85 pounds, he can receive 100mg (4 tablets) of Benadryl twice a day. With him having so many sores, I would recommend to see your vet because he is likely going to need some antibiotics and maybe some steroids to help with the reaction. I would not give frontline again. I would consider trying an oral flea preventative next time. I hope this helps.
