Unfortunately you cannot use topical medications that close together. Your best bet here is to try washing off the product immediately with Dish dawn detergent, and then to reapply the newer medication in 2 weeks. In the meantiime you can give Boogie a Capstar just about as often as you need to to rid fleas immediately after seeing them. You can purchase a Capstar at any pet store that carries this brand. This is not a preventative but it is a flea ridder that works fast (witihin 1 hr!). I hope that you are able to give Boogie some relief following his intense flea infestation. You definitely want to give him a calming aloe based or oatmeal based bath right after the Dawn bath, and a soothing conditoner from your local pet store can also be helpful. I'm so sorry to hear that Smokey is having this problem. Dogs that have flea allergies can be miserable with only 1 flea bite per week, so it doesn't take very many fleas to cause a problem. I have been very happy with Nexgard. It works differently than Frontline, so it might be more effective. There are a couple of different oral flea prevention products that can be given even though you have already done Frontline, so they will work together to get the problem under control ASAP. The active ingredients in Frontline Plus are rather safe, so I would not be worried about any toxic effects this long after you applied the previous dose. Considering the bathing likely did remove a fair amount of the previous solution and you are seeing fleas, it's safe to say that Maddie will need some extra protection. The manufacturer recommends not bathing until 48 hours after applying Frontline, but I always advise not to give a bath one week after applying topical medications like Frontline to be safe. You can wash the product off his har with Dawn dish soap (it is a grease/oil remover). Then wait 24 hours and apply the Frontline again. If you can't get the topical product on him effectively you may need to switch to an oral product or use a Seresto collar. One Seresto collar lasts up to 8 months. It is very cost effective and easy to use. You didn't mention the age of your puppy so be sure to read all package instructions to make sure products are safe to use on whatever age your puppy is.
