My dog is lethargic after eye infection treatment. Is this normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | spayed | 3 years and 7 months old | 10 lbs

Quinn has an eye infection. Our vet gave us an antibiotic ointment and a pain reliever. This started Friday. We stopped the pain reliever because she was getting nauseous and vomiting. Today, her eye is looking better, but she is very lethargic. Is there anything else we need to do?

She may be lethargic due to pain. I suggest you call your vet to see if you can get a different pain medication. I have eye problems and I can tell you it is miserable and very painful and you don't feel like doing much. I'm guessing that may be going on with her. I'm glad the eye is looking better though!
