My dog has a gunky green eye after daycare. What should I do?

Poor Pippa! I definitely see the discharge in the inner corner of her eye, and a little bit of redness. You should definitely have her examined by a vet as soon as possible, because eye issues can turn into emergencies very quickly. The discharge can be due to conjunctivitis, a foreign body, or even a scratch in the cornea (this condition is dangerous as it can quickly progress and even cause a dog to lose their eye). In the meantime, you can get Pippa an E-collar (or "cone") to prevent her from scratching the eye and causing further damage and apply artificial tears to the eye two to three times per day. The main reason is that greenish discharge can also be observed with things like a corneal ulcer or conjunctivitis for example. Your veterinarian could check for this and treat accordingly. If it's just the one eye there may be something going on on the corneal surface that you can't see with the naked eye. A vet would need to stain the eye to see a scratch. I would recommend taking him in to check that and get medications to heal it fast. Eyes can go from bad to worse very quickly. Good luck and kisses to Tucker!

The eye lids appear very red and with the history of the runny eye discharge with a sudden onset, there could be a scratch on the cornea or a foreign object trapped under the eye lid. An allergic reaction is also possible. Corneal scratches and foreign objects in the eye are uncomfortable and can get worse quickly. Chester needs to wear an elizabethan collar at all times and he should be examined today by the veterinarian for correct diagnosis and treatment. I hope this helps.

Kylo could have conjunctivitis which can be caused by infections or allergies. I would recommend having your veterinarian take a look - they might also want to apply a stain to the eyes to make sure there's no evidence of a scratch on the corneas. Allergic and infectious conjunctivitis are usually treated with various topical eye drops. I wouldn't recommend a tea bag on her eye - it could be irritating.
