Dog's eyes swollen after grooming. Are vet eye drops working yet?

Continue the eye drops as directed as eyes take a while to heal. Depending on the injury, it can take anywhere from a few days to weeks for things to heal completely. As long as he is comfortable, I would say continuing your current regimen is the way to go. If you notice squinting, rubbing at the eye, or the inflammation getting worse, I would have it rechecked as soon as possible. Hope this helps!

However, there are some other diseases that really need a very thorough evaluation of the eye to diagnose. I think that if he has not improved on the current therapy, it may be a good idea to check in with your veterinarian. If they are concerned based on their knowledge of his case, they could consider having you consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist. From the photo, it does look like there is a slight reduction in the swelling but this seems like a slower response than expected. Keep in mind every pet is different and every pet responds differently but I recommend to call your veterinarian. Ask about sending in the photos and describe what you are seeing. If there is no improvement, then I would seek an emergency veterinary hospital that is open 24 hours so you can get him seen sooner rather than later. I hope this helps! Without seeing your dog in person we cannot say for certain, but it is possible that this could be a subconjunctival hemorrage. It can be a result of hypertension (elevated blood pressure), trauma, coagulopathy (blood clotting disorder). Usually this goes away on its own eventually, but if he is acting uncomfortable then a vet visit it best. They can test your dog's blood pressure, and be sure there are no signs of a bleeding disorder, and give pain medication if needed to make him more comfortable.

I would say it’s not unreasonable for 4 days post-op but the swelling should be going down rapidly at this point. If it’s not improved by tomorrow, I’d pop in to see the vet who did the surgery to make sure there is not a complication such as seroma or hematoma (fluids or blood pocket). In the mean time, I recommend warm packing for 5-10 minutes 3-4 times daily. To do this, soak a wash cloth in warm water, wring it out, and put it in a plastic bag. Apply gently to the surgery site. Seepage of some clearish fluids may happen and this is just fine. Best wishes to you and Nemi!

Hello. This could be some type of allergic reaction. Apply a warm compress to the area twice a day for 10-15 minutes at a time. You will need to keep the water quite warm, but not uncomfortable. If the swelling does not go down by tomorrow, please make an appointment to see your veterinarian on Monday. Hopefully, the swelling will resolve by then.
