My dog is 10 and flinches/shakes when I touch his back. What's wrong?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I've got a ten year old dog. He flinched every time we go to touch his back and then starts shaking. We think he's got a few lumps coming. Any idea why he's flinching then shaling? He gives a sad face as if he was in pain. He's had no injury there.

He may have arthritis in his spine that is causing the issue. You should have him examined by a vet in person so that they can help you figure out what is going on. Flinching and shaking means he is in pain so it would be best to get him some help.
