Poor Ace! It definitely sounds like something is wrong. Unfortunately, these are very vague symptoms that could be caused by almost any kind of injury or illness. He may be painful due to arthritis, a slipped disc in his back, or some other cause; or he may not be feeling well due to an illness such as liver or kidney disease, or even some type of cancer.
I would recommend having Ace examined by a vet as soon as possible, since it sounds like he's quite uncomfortable. The vet can do blood work and x-rays to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.
