Can my dog safely wear a fleece vest overnight in her wire crate?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Nuala. I do not recommend placing a sweater on her. I worry that it could get tangled or hooked on her crate causing her problems. The cargo hold of the airplane will be temperature controlled. So it should only be chilly for her on the tarmac. There are typically very strict transport times so she will not be allowed outside long. I hope this information helps!

It's fine to let Dulce sleep with you at night and put her in a crate during the day at work. One of my dogs had separation anxiety, so I would crate him during the day when I was gone, but he always slept with me at night. He knew the crate was a safe space for him when I was gone. Hi. Yes, it is absolutely ok to use the crate tonight. She may not be used to it so she will want to get out. Just say no loudly and keep saying it. Place crate next to your bed so she can see you. I would not leave a chew toy in there, as we dont want her to rio anything up or choke or ingest pieces while we arent watching. It will take some time for her to stop crying and scratching, so your rest will be affected. Be patient and it will get better.

A leash would not be recommended overnight or without supervision since it poses a risk of strangulation. It will likely urinate on your bed if you don't get up to take it outside. There is also a risk that you may injure the pup if you roll onto it while you are asleep. Use a large box or gate off a section of the room for him/her to sleep until you get an appropriately sized crate. It only needs to be big enough for the pup to stand, turn around and lie down. A pup shouldn't be crated for extended periods of time anyway.

Great question! I would keep your puppy indoors in cold nights. Young puppies are not able to regulate their body temperature, and it would be best to keep it indoors where it is warmer. You can keep the puppy in a crate indoors to keep it from getting into things and having accidents in the home.

Poor, Luna, the crate bit her! When you are home, continue to encourage her to be comfortable with the crate. You can try switching out bedding or blankets inside, place it in a different area of the house, or place blankets over it to give it a different feel. When you are home, throw treats inside without shutting the door. Play with toys in and around the crate. Feed her inside the crate. Give her some time before locking her in there again, and I am sure she will come around.
