Can I let my dog sleep with me and crate them while I'm at work?

Hi. Yes, it is absolutely ok to use the crate tonight. She may not be used to it so she will want to get out. Just say no loudly and keep saying it. Place crate next to your bed so she can see you. I would not leave a chew toy in there, as we dont want her to rio anything up or choke or ingest pieces while we arent watching. It will take some time for her to stop crying and scratching, so your rest will be affected. Be patient and it will get better.

In my personal opinion, this is not a problem at all, i have never seen any negative effect on a puppy sleeping on it's owner's bed rather than in a crate. as long as you are comfortable with the idea that he is likely to always want to sleep on your bed in the future it's absolutely fine.

Some pets do you need to be crated for their own safety and for the safety of your home. Don’t feel bad about it but do make sure that he gets plenty of exercise every day and also attention. It is better not to let Doobie do that as he will get used to sleep with you and will prefer that rather than sleeping in his own place. This behaviour can then predispose to development of separation anxiety as well.

While people are eating is realistic since it is only short period at a time. If you have a fence he stays in, maybe you can let him out during that time instead. Every night, depends on what he does at night.
