Dog fell, now scared, crying, won't go out. Is it pain or fear?

Based on his responses he could be in pain. When an animal Berks they are letting you know that something is either painful or fearful to them. I would encourage you to at least get him examined to make sure and absolutely certain that he doesn't have an internal injury that you just may not see on the outside. If he is just fearful it may take them a week or two at the most special if you work with him every day with enjoyable activities and positive reinforcement. Coax him out with some favorable treats and show him extra attention daily. Eventually he will come around, especially if you all had a close bond up until this incident. Best wishes!

If this is not the case, small breed dogs are prone to neck and/or back pain. This is a potentially serious situation as it can lead to weak or paralysis in certain cases. This can happen from insect bite, accidentally tearing a toenail, or a number of other minor, but painful things. It could also be related to a back injury, clot, bladder stone, or other more serious medical conditions- though he’s pretty young for those things. He could also have been scared for some unknown reason (thunder, cat outside, motorcycle reviving up, etc), If you have the ability to check on him at lunch (or have someone else check on him at lunch) that would be ideal, though very likely he will be completely normal by then. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Gage! I would worry that Gage has hurt his back or neck. This is how they tend to act. They also don’t jump up in furniture like normal and avoid the stairs. They cry when touched, picked up or move. I would take him in to your vet today before the holiday for an exam. I treat neck and back pain with anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants and pain medications. I wish Gage a speedy recovery!

That sounds serious and I recommend to have Bailey seen today by her veterinarian. The main things that come to mind are an injury of some sort or congenital abnormality to the neck or spine. Any injury however to the legs could look like this if Bailey is in so much pain that she does not want to move. Severe GI pain from an intestinal blockage may also look like this. An infection could also make a pet not want to move around and feel very bad. Regardless, it's been going on for a week and it's not going away. It sounds like Daddy injured himself jumping up on the bed. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a lead only, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

It is difficult to say for sure what the problem is since you are not able to find one particular area that is affected. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Bo to see if something can be found on a physical examination and then go from there in regards to diagnostics and treatment options. You could also monitor him for 24 hours and if there is no improvement, then schedule an exam with a veterinarian.
