Why does my pug faint or collapse when excited? Is it a seizure?

Unfortunately pugs are extremely brachycephalic dogs and it is not rare that they cannot breathe properly and fall unconscious due to lack of oxygen. You will need to take your dog to a veterinarian for assessment and an exam. The extremely flat face and nose causes two problems: the opening of the nose is often obstructed and can be surgically enlarged to help with breathing. Also the soft palate is often way to big as there is no snout, and often obstructs the larynx, cutting off the air flow. This can be surgically adjusted. Both these conditions can also cause heart failure. Please take your dog to a veterinarian or veterinary surgeon for an exam soon.

It sounds suspicious for a seizure . Kayla could have a seizure for a few reasons. The most common is epilepsy but toxins, liver disease or brain tumors can also cause seizures. I would recommend to take him into the vet asap for a neurologic exam and bloodwork. This will help to narrow down what caused this. Keep him quiet until his visit and encourage him to drink water. I am concerned this may be syncope, or collapse due to poor circulation very common in older figs with heart disease. An urgent vet check and assessment for medication is required, keep strictly rested in the meantime

It is possible when she is anxious and very excited she is having a small seizures, having decreased cardiac function or even a breathing issue like collapsing trachea. With a pug they are more prone to breathing issues due to there elongated soft palpate and small airways. I would recommend trying to video tape the episode and showing it to your vet for a better assessment. With Ruby being young I would recommend having some basic blood work done to make sure there is not issues with liver function too. I think consulting a vet would be best after an episode. No this is not normal at all, and Skippers needs to see a vet right away for this. Passing out intermittently is a sign of serious heart disease, and he needs a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, and x-rays to check his heart. Should he be in heart failure, medications can be prescribed to treat his symptoms but it unfortunately cannot be cured. Please take him into a vet asap.

This is very concerning, especially in a young dog like Baby Girl. A seizure is possible, although typically stiffness or convulsions are seen and it usually takes awhile to recover from a seizure. A syncopal episode is another possibility - this occurs when there is an arrhythmia or other heart problem that causes fainting. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian right away - they can listen to her heart and may recommend taking an x-ray or checking blood work. Seizures or heart disease in a young dog can be fatal.
