Why is my dog collapsing or passing out? Is it a vet emergency?

Your veterinarian can assess Ingmar for a heart murmur and take X-rays to determine if emergency heart medication is needed. Yes, that could be the cause of Toby's collapse. It's called syncope, and it occurs in dogs who have an enlarged heart because of an interruption of the blood supply to the brain. Have him seen by a vet asap. Syncope is a very serious symptom of heart disease, and he likely needs medications to help with his heart problems.

That sounds scary! Zeus needs to be examined by his veterinarian today if possible. It sounds like he may have had a seizure or a syncopal episode. Pets can have seizures for many reasons including liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, infections, inner ear problems, cancer or epilepsy. Syncopal episodes are generally related to the heart. He will need a physical exam and bloodwork to begin to narrow down and appropriately address the cause. Seizures are serious and are best addressed early. Hello. I am so sorry about poor Monty. He does need to see a veterinarian as soon as possible to rule out the various causes of his symptoms. These could be seizures, but it can also be a condition called syncope that would indicate that there may be a pretty serious heart problem going on.
