Why is my dog's eye shut, discharging, smelly, and causing pain?

Olini needs to see a vet as soon as possible. Potential causes for the sudden change that you see in the eye include severe conjunctivitis, corneal ulcer or abrasion, glaucoma, uveitis, and trauma. I can't quite tell from the picture, but it may be proptosed ("popped out"). If you have an emergency vet clinic open near by, this would be a case that I would advise seeking emergency care.

Poor Caeser. The white discharge charge from the eyes indicates he may have an eye infection. It's not possible know exactly what's happening with the eye, but it's definitely hurting badly if it's swollen shut. It could have gotten hurt from something hitting the eye, or she has an infection in the eye, or in the tissues surrounding the eye. The only way to tell what this is, is to have a veterinarian examine the eye. The sensitivity to light is a sign of pain. I wiukd first be worried about an ulcer on the cornea. This can cause pain and a discharge and easy to test for. Glaucoma can have a big eye and a red eye, not usually squinting. An eye infection can also cause these issues along with a dry eye. Your vet can check the tear production and look for an ulcer as each one has medicine that can correct this

Panchito is not ok if he cannot open his right eye all the way and he's crying. He has to see a vet now, this is a medical emergency. Leaving any eye problem untreated can lead to vision loss, so please take him into a vet immediately.

The tearing and discharge may indicate an infection or injury. You would need to have Tobby physically examined by your veterinarian or a veterinary ophthalmologist to diagnose the underlying cause.
