My dog's eyes squint and discharge after being lost. What's wrong?

The sensitivity to light is a sign of pain. I wiukd first be worried about an ulcer on the cornea. This can cause pain and a discharge and easy to test for. Glaucoma can have a big eye and a red eye, not usually squinting. An eye infection can also cause these issues along with a dry eye. Your vet can check the tear production and look for an ulcer as each one has medicine that can correct this

Squinting the eye abnormally could be caused by pain which could be caused by a variety of conditions, including allergies, bacterial or viral infection, corneal abrasion or ulcer, or something stuck under the eyelids. The discharge you described could occur with any of these conditions. I would recommend that you have Bella examined by a vet since eyes can go downhill very quickly. The vet will do a thorough exam and may need to do one or two tests to determine what is going on so they can select an appropriate treatment.

The clear discharge could be a sign that Hades has an allergy or blocked tear ducts. Unfortunately a corneal scratch could also cause some clear discharge and squinting along with sensitivity to light - some dogs end up with recurrent superficial corneal ulcers called indolent ulcers. I'd recommend having Hades checked by your vet.

Moo is adorable, but his eyes certainly seem uncomfortable given his squinting! Squinting is a sign of eye pain in dogs. Coupled with the yellow/green discharge, it is concerning that he may have an eye infection, corneal ulcer or uveitis (inflammation within the eyes). Allergies may be contributing, but the yellow/green discharge makes me suspicious that there is another issue present. If his eyes are itchy at all, make sure that Moo wears an e-collar (cone) until you can take him to the vet today or tomorrow to prevent further eye injury. I hope that all goes well!
