Is my dog's enlarged prostate causing his leg and testicle to swell?

It sounds like prostatitis and/or cancer. I'm not exactly sure what your question is. We don't have enough information to be able to guide you to a decision. Unfortunately it's impossible to say without being able to examine Bruno in person. A testicular tumor could swell and cause an increase in size that could resolves with an antibiotic or steroid injection. Infections like Brucella or other bacteria could cause testicular swelling. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Bruno to determine what might be the cause.

Hello. Swollen testicles with progrssive swelling in the pelvic limb(s) might be an indication of infection, inflammation or even neoplasia. You really should have this evaluated as soon as possible on the chance that he may need to be on antibiotics or need to be neutered. Hello Kirsti. Since Cu Chulainn (the mighty hound!) is not neutered, the swelling is likely his prostate. If this swelling occurs more often, if he urinates blood, or if the swelling does not recede again, you should have that examined by your veterinarian, as he may have a prostate problem.

Sorry to hear this, it isvery promising that his bloods were good and dehydration alone can certainly make an animal feel very poorly. The prostate being enlarged could be a number of things. In uncastrated dogs the most common thing is enlargement due to hormones, however I see your dog is castrated. In this case enlargement could've due to a tumour but likewise could be an infection. I would suggest speaking to your vet about this as a biopsy would help to determine the exact nature of the enlargement and put your mind at rest. I think you need some more information before you can determine a prognosis.

Poor Oscar! His scrotum does look quite swollen and sore. Yes, unfortunately this could definitely be caused by testicular cancer, as this is a fairly common problem in older intact male dogs. He could also have an infection of the scrotum or testicles causing this swelling. I would recommend taking him to the vet to have this checked as soon as you are able to. He/she can take a biopsy if needed to help determine exactly what's going on, and may recommend surgical removal if cancer is suspected.

If you have not had any blood work done on Rooney, I would get him back to the veterinarian and have this done to help determine what this could be. I am concerned that this could be a cancerous disease process causing this. The fluid in the leg and swelling is from edema from the sounds of it. I am unsure about the testicles but the scrotum may also be filling with edema if there is an imbalance of protein in the body. A snake bite is a possibility but many times you will see puncture marks where the fangs penetrated the skin. There may be a tumor in the scrotum as well, which may be causing the drainage in the leg if it is affecting the lymph drainage to the leg causing the fluid to accumulate more and more. If you have the option to go to a veterinary specialist I would certainly recommend doing so to help figure out what is going on.
