Why is my 4-year-old pitbull eating grass? Does he need a check-up?

If this is a new thing then it may be that Izzy does have an upset stomach. If Izzy has always done this I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it is new then I would monitor and if any other symptoms develop bring Izzy to a veterinarian. It is not uncommon for dogs to get bouts of gastroenteritis where they self soothe by eating grass. It could be as simple as this. However, if she appears to be dull or starts being sick or not eating then I would get her checked by a vet just in case it is more serious. The wound should also be checked to ensure its not infected.

This generally means a dog is nauseous for some reason - although some dogs just enjoy eating grass for unclear reasons (flavor, the dew on it, etc). I would recommend scheduling a check in with his vet for an exam and possibly blood work to make sure everything is looking ok. There could be many things that are causing this in Loki. Less likely a foreign body especially since he bounces back right after vomiting. It can be viral related or just a gastrointestinal upset. We always are concerned about Parvo in an unvaccinated puppy since he is only 9 weeks but this is less likely if he is energetic and has no diarrhea. He can always have intestinal parasites especially in a young puppy. I would recommend a stool check, deworming, a bland diet and an antacid as long as everything else is ok. Pets will eat grass when they are either bored or have an upset stomach. By eating the grass it will tickle their throat on the way down and usually cause them to vomit up whatever is upsetting their stomach. If Riley isn't vomiting or has a decreased appetite, then he is likely just bored. I would however refrain him from eating grass, to prevent him from having any vomiting episodes.
