My dachshund is drooling excessively and throwing up. What's wrong?

Poor baby. With that amount of vomiting, I'd recommend a vet visit right away for an exam, x-rays, and possible blood work. It could be something as simple as a intestinal bug, or something much more serious like eating a foreign object. Good luck!

Excessive salivation is typically an indicator of nausea, a dental problem, exposure to a toxin, or a neurologic issue. If you are unable to go to the veterinarian, you can certainly try an over the counter anti-nausea medication to see if this helps should it persist. If cupcake will allow it, you can also try to open her mouth to see if there are any obvious dental issues that you can readily identify. A neurologic problem would definitely need to be assessed by a professional in order to determine what the origin of it might be and if there are other subtler clinical signs you may not be noticing. Hope this makes sense.

Excessive salivary production and licking of the lips sounds like some pretty significant nausea too me. Daisy would likely benefit from some anti-nausea medication. The best drugs for this include Cerenia and metoclopramide, both of which will require a prescription from your vet. Over the counter options which do not tend to work as effectively include things like pepsid and prilosec. I would encourage you to take Daisy in to be examined to see if there is an underlying problem that can be determined. Common causes of nausea in dogs include gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, vertigo / neurologic diseases, inner ear infections, GI foreign bodies, and several different infectious diseases. If you visit the vet, they may want to obtain some images / lab work to rule certain things in and out. Hope this helps!

Not eating and vomiting can be due to a very upset stomach/gastritis, pancreatitis, severe diabetic crisis, blockages of the gut, organ disease, etc. It is important to stop the vomiting and rule out surgical causes and organ failure causes. I recommend you have Peanut to the vet right away, they will likely recommend bloodwork and x-rays. Best of luck with Peanut!

Poor guy. It sounds like Minus has a pretty severe case of gastroenteritis, which is likely due to the unwanted food he ate. He is in desperate need of some antibiotics and probiotics prescribed by your vet. You can give him 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin tonight and start some over the counter Culturelle probiotics from your local pharmacy, as well as a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or lean ground turkey and rice; however, it is best to take him in to your vet for antibiotics as well to complete his treatment. Drooling can be a sign of nausea or pain. Since she threw up and and is now not drooling, I would monitor her for further changes. If the drooling returns or she continues to vomit then i would get her seen. Also watch her appetite and monitor her stool for any diarrhea.

Hi. Poor dexter. I don't know if it's just him normally or not, but his back seems arched. He seems guarded. I'd get him checked out to have his tummy, back, and analysis glands checked. Good luck.
