Why is my miniature dachshund throwing up, wheezing, and sad?

Poor baby. With that amount of vomiting, I'd recommend a vet visit right away for an exam, x-rays, and possible blood work. It could be something as simple as a intestinal bug, or something much more serious like eating a foreign object. Good luck!

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am so sorry that Ace is not feeling well. I would suspect that he has picked up a bit of an infection. The quivering could be a sign that he is running a fever. Being a dachshund, I would also be concerned that he has injured his back as we see a lot on Intervertebral Disc Disease in this breed. If you have the ability to have Ace evaluated by your veterinarian, a diagnosis can be made & he proper treatment started to get Ace feeling better as soon as possible. I hope all is well soon. I think he should be seen by a vet. An arched back can be caused by pain, which could be in the muscle, bone or spine, or belly. Belly pain could be from inflammation of a major organ or from something they ingested (like a food intolerance or a foreign body). After physical examination, the vet may recommend x-rays or ultrasound to see what is going on inside the abdomen, and/or bloodwork to look values of major organs like kidneys and liver. Then once they have a better idea of the cause of Kody's symptoms, they can discuss treatments.

With such vague signs, there is no way for us to predict online where the source of his discomfort his. I recommend a full physical by your vet to investigate the source of his pain and discomfort and advise on the most appropriate treatment. Keep him warm and well rested and offer pedialyte, fresh water and small meals of warm, bland food until you can arrange an appointment

Poor Maxx! He is a handsome boy. In Dachshunds, back problems are very common due to their elongated spine, and he could be painful at his back by his tail, leading to sensitivity when touched around that area. A painful back would keep him from jumping on the couch and whimpering when picked up. I would rest him tonight and tomorrow, no running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a lead, and bring him right back in when he's done. I would take him into the vet first thing Monday morning for a physical exam and x-rays. The vet can diagnose if he does have a problem with his back, and how best to treat it. Unfortunately, Dachshunds frequently need surgery to repair their back problems. I hope this helps!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Dixie. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian today. His symptoms are worrisome. A severe respiratory tract infection can cause green nasal discharge and coughing. He could also have pneumonia. If he is unvaccinated, distemper virus infection can cause respiratory and gastrointestinal signs. The veterinarian will examine him and may make testing recommendations such as x-rays of his chest. Poor little Wallace. I am concerned that the crying and the unusual activity indicate his is in discomfort or doesn’t feel good. I recommend to have him seen by his veterinarian today ideally.
