My dog accidentally took a double Mirtazapine dose. Is she okay?

It is commonly used in cats as an appetite stimulant. 30mg would be 4 times higher than I normally use, and this overdosage can cause: 57% vocalizing, 38% agitated, 23% vomiting, 21% tachycardic, 15% ataxic and 11% lethargic. The symptoms can last a little longer than 72 hours. As long as Dolly is still eating and drinking normally, I would continue to watch her. If the she is still not completely normal in a day or two, she may need a checkup with a vet.

The good news is that there is a wide dose range of Cerenia for dogs, and even giving her the 60mg tablet is still well within the normal and safe dose range at her weight. There is nothing you need to do except give her the half pill the next time her medication is due. It's all ok :-)

A one time early dose is unlikely to be problematic, but I would recommend that you don’t redose for at least another 24 hours. If she seems comfortable than you can wait for 36 hours and use the gabapentin. Monitor for any signs of nausea, vomiting, or dark tarry stools. Not to worry! 35mg of acepromazine is still within a normal dosage range for a dog Botticelli's size. She may be extra groggy and have a longer nap than usual, but there should be no other detrimental effects. :-)

A one time double dose of deramaxx should not cause major problems. Signs to watch for anytime they are on an anti inflammatory medication include decreased appetite, vomiting, or dark back stool. If any of these signs are noted stop the deramaxx and call your vet. Baron should do ok!!
