My dog's cut was super glued with hair. Will it cause infection?

In that location, it will be near impossible to keep him from licking. Keep the area as clean as possible and monitor for redness, swelling, discharge, lethargy or decreased appetite. These are symptoms of potential infection and should be addressed by your veterinarian. At this point, it may need to heal by "second intention".

I would not recommend using superglue on a laceration. Although tissue glue is similar and sometimes used to close small wounds it would not be ideal for a high pressure/high motion area like the paw. If it is not bleeding and seems superficial it might heal without specific treatment: watch for redness, swelling or discharge as symptoms of infection. If it is bleeding or seems to be deep you should have your vet take a look.

Unfortunately, you cannot use glue for this deep of a wound. Buddy needs veterinary care where they clean up the wound and staple or suture it closed. He then needs antibiotics and pain medication. I see the cut in the picture, and I think that is may need stitches. I cannot accurately say how deep it is based on this picture, but it looks long enough to potentially need them. I would have your dog sitter take her into a vet now, do not have them treat this at home. Best of luck.

Sometimes skin incisions that were closed with glue will pucker at the very ends and open slightly. However, the middle pucker appears a little swollen. I would recommend that you take Chloe to a vet to check the incision. Usually the vet that performed the surgery will do brief incision checks at no charge. Sometimes another spot of glue is all that is needed to get it to heal properly. Sometimes the puckers are left open to heal on their own. If the vet finds signs of infection, oral antibiotics can be prescribed. Make sure that Chloe is not licking the incision. If you see her lick even once she needs to wear an e-collar or cone to prevent further opening of the incision. Also, she needs to still be on moderate activity restriction - even though this can be difficult in young puppies, encourage her to stay flat and not jump around too much. And no bathing for at least 1 week after surgery.

Whether a cut needs stitches will depend on the location and size and age of the injury. Sometimes even a third of an inch laceration may need a stitch if it is in a complicated place where there is a lot of skin movement. The laceration on the photo does not look very big and I would cut away some hair around it to keep hair from touching the wound, and disinfect it once and then just leave it alone. It should form a crust under which it can heal. Should there be a pussy discharge it will need to be seen by a vet, but I think it can heal by itself without a problem.
