My dog's cut reopened after licking off the glue. What should I do?

Hello, not necessarily. It looks like it is apposed sufficiently enough, however, sure glue is not something used for wound closure and may interfere with the healing of the laceration. I would monitor the area for any redness, discharge, swelling, pain, or purple/black discoloration in the surrounding skin and bring him to your veterinarian if you note any of the above. Until you can get back in for an appointment, it is best to place the Elizabethan collar back onto Tiffany and keep the wound as clean and dry as possible. This can help reduce irritation and prevent any infections from worsening until your vet can take another look. If it is very red and swollen, they may also recommend antibiotics in addition to another round of pain meds.

it is hard to say if this can heal without putting another stitch in. If you cannot keep your dog still, then this will indeed need another stitch or staple to hold the wound edges together and especially not enlarge. It is also very important to keep an e-collar on her so she cannot lick the incision. Keeping her calm would be essential and you may have to crate her in order to achieve that.

Sometimes skin incisions that were closed with glue will pucker at the very ends and open slightly. However, the middle pucker appears a little swollen. I would recommend that you take Chloe to a vet to check the incision. Usually the vet that performed the surgery will do brief incision checks at no charge. Sometimes another spot of glue is all that is needed to get it to heal properly. Sometimes the puckers are left open to heal on their own. If the vet finds signs of infection, oral antibiotics can be prescribed. Make sure that Chloe is not licking the incision. If you see her lick even once she needs to wear an e-collar or cone to prevent further opening of the incision. Also, she needs to still be on moderate activity restriction - even though this can be difficult in young puppies, encourage her to stay flat and not jump around too much. And no bathing for at least 1 week after surgery.

It looks large enough it may need stitches but to do that at this point they would have to make it larger to get to fresh edges. You can keep it packed with neosporin but will likely need an e collar to keep him from scratching it again and restarting the healing process. I would see a vet to see about surgery or at least antibiotics to let it heal on its own

Wound dehiscence is probably one of the most frustrating things to treat for that same reason of sometimes taking longer to heal than typical. However, it is indicated to continue treating this through a veterinarian as there are really no at home treatments for something like this. Having said that, it is important to continue to use an e-collar to avoid self-trauma and one thing you can do is limit her activity as much as possible as often times it is the continued motion what affects healing the most. Lesions in this location can be a little tricky to treat with topical medications because most dogs are able to lick them off, at least to some degree. You can try to clean this area with an antiseptic chlorhexidine cleanser twice a day (Hibiclens is one brand), but take care to rinse it well and do not let Bella lick it while you are cleaning. Breaking open a vitamin E capsule and rubbing it on this area may be mildly helpful, but it won't hurt if she licks a little off. As Jessica mentioned, one of the most important things to do is to keep an e-collar on Bella to prevent her from rubbing at this area further. If this lesion persists for another week or worsens at any point, you'll need to take her to a vet for evaluation. It's possible that she may need oral antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications to help get this area under control. I hope that everything goes well!
