My dog cut by barbed wire and bleeding. Can I use glue or see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 months and 3 days old | 42 lbs

My dog got cut by barb wire and it lifted a layer of skin off, at first it did not bleed but since then it has started to bleed. Will it heal on its own? Can I put on liquid glue?

Unfortunately, you cannot use glue for this deep of a wound. Buddy needs veterinary care where they clean up the wound and staple or suture it closed. He then needs antibiotics and pain medication.

I hope Buddy feels better soon and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
