My dog's grooming cut is red. Should I be concerned about infection?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My dog has a cut on her neck from grooming thats about an inch in size, I've been applying neosporin on her and it appears to be a little red, do I need to be worried?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From the picture the cut looks superficial. I would keep it clean and dry with a mild soap and water and continue the neosporine. If you notice it’s hot to the touch, has any drainage or is swollen, then contact a vet. Kisses to your pup!
