Why is there clear, squishy, gel-like stuff in my Chihuahua's pee?

Urine crystals often (depending on the type of crystals) form when they have a bladder infection. This would normally be the cause of a young dog having incontinence issues, but it's also possible that he has a nerve issue, or hereditary problem like ectopic ureters. It's best to have Asher rechecked by your veterinarian sometime soon. They can give you more information about the cause of his current urine dribbling and offer additional testing if necessary. The most common reasons for straining to urine, urinary accidents and bloody urine are: urinary tract infections (UTI), crystals in the urine, bladder stones and if she is an older dog a bladder or urethral tumor. I recommend collecting a urine sample and bringing her to the Vet before the weekend as she is very uncomfortable. The urine sample can determine if she has an infection or crystals and an X-ray is needed to check for bladder stones. I wish Chi Chi a speedy recovery!

I'm glad you are planning on getting Kiwi tested, as unfortunately it is not possible to tell "normal" urine just from a picture. The colour of urine can change based on the dog's diet, hydration level and other factors. Changes in urine volume, colour, odour, frequency or location of urination could be due to a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, stones in the urinary tract, or trauma to the area. If you notice her straining to urinate/unable to produce urine, this is a medical emergency and she should be seen by a vet immediately.

Your veterinarian will want to perform a full physical exam and also examine a urine sample for evidence of infection. If she does have a urinary tract infection, these are often uncomplicated and treated successfully with antibiotics, as long as she is otherwise healthy without any underlying systemic disease. That is an interesting picture. Is it possible that there was something on the sidewalk prior to her urinating? Was this a one time occurrence? I would recommend taking her into a veterinarian. They may want to collect a sample to see if it is still present. They may also want to collect a sterile sample of urine by doing a cystocentesis ( using a syringe and needle ).
