I am sorry Bailey is not feeling well. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian to have the rectum area examine. A blood filled sac is never considered normal and in an older patient could be many things. An infection, trauma, cancers and non cancerous masses can occur around the rectum area.

Poor Bailey! The blood filled sacs that you are seeing could be infected anal glands, or benign or malignant masses. Regardless of the cause, Bailey needs to go to his vet for evaluation. If anal gland infection/inflammation are the problem, your vet will be able to perform a rectal exam to empty the glands and start any necessary antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications. If masses are more suspected, samples may need to be taken with a needle to determine the cause of these lesions. Until you can get to the vet, be sure to keep an e-collar (cone) on Bailey to prevent him from licking his hind end excessively, as this could make matters much worse. I hope that all goes well!

Based on the location, I am concerned that the left anal sac may be the cause for the bleeding. Dogs can develop anal sac abscesses, which is an infection of the anal sac (there are two located at the margin of the anus) that can rupture to the outside. These can be painful and will often require antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication to manage pain and allow healing. The other potential is an anal sac mass. Due to Ben's age I would be very concerned for this. Unfortunately there is not much that can be done from home for either of these conditions. It would be recommended to try to find the closest veterinarian to you and have Ben seen. If it is an anal sac mass, these often require surgery and have the potential to be malignant cancers.

Why is my dog bleeding from his anus after pooping and a lump shows?

Poor Roscoe! It's not normal to bleed from the anus after bowel movements, and the thing you see sticking out of his anus could be a tumor, impacted and infected anal sac, or his rectum could be prolapsed. Roscoe could see a vet right away for this, and I would bring him into a vet ASAP to be examined so this can be treated.

My dog's swollen anus is leaking blood and pus. Can I treat it?

Ouch, poor Early! If you are seeing blood and pus along with brown fluid, it sounds like his anal sacs may have become infected and have now ruptured. With the presence of pus, there isn't anything you can do at home for him. I would take him into a vet as soon as possible to have this area cleaned and examined. If his anal sac has ruptured, it will need to be sutured closed and he will need antibiotics for infection.

My dog has a bloody lump near her anus. Is it a hemorrhoid? What now?

It is hard to tell for sure by the pictures, but my suspicion would be that it is either a perianal tumor that has bled, or potentially a ruptured anal sac abscess. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. If it is an abscess then antibiotics will likely be needed. If it is a tumor then the veterinarian can discuss options with you. Often perianal tumors are benign.
