My dog has a bleeding stye on his eyelid. What should I do now?

That is concerning it suddenly started bleeding. It doesn't look like a stye to me in the picture. Apply gentle pressure to stop the bleeding, and make an appointment for Nikita to see a vet for it. If you cannot stop the bleeding, get her into an ER vet.

I'd try applying a warm compress to it five minutes a day a couple times a day to see if that helps open it up and drain. If this does not help, it gets bigger, starts bleeding or has pus, or it starts to bother her, then I would have her seen by a vet for it. I hope this helps!

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to a trauma or infection. At this stage it is not possible to rule out that a small mass is developing (stye is possible, but a small benign tumor should be considered as well). A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Poor Gomez! From the picture, he has bletharitis- inflammation of the eyelid. I would recommend that you take him to a veterinarian. They will do an exam and try to find out the cause. They might do diagnostics such as cytology to see if infected. After that- they will give you meds that are safe for the eye area! Good Luck! Soaked a soft washcloth in hot water, let it cool a bit (it should be warm to the touch), and apply it to the sty for five minutes at a time a couple of times a days. If this doesn't help drain the sty, have her seen by a vet.

This looks suspicious of a meibomian cyst-a cyst including a small gland around the eyelid. Many times they will "rupture" on their own but will regrow in the same area after this happens. I always recommend removal as they can become quite large and irritate the eye of he affected animal. If they are not surgically removed by your vet-normally part of the cyst remains and refills. Vincent is very handsome! It is hard to say by the pictures but it looks like he has an infection around his eye. I recommend taking him to a vet so they can get a closer look. They may want to stain the globe to make sure he hasn't scratched the cornea then they can get him on a medication to heal the area. Good luck and kisses to Vincent!
