Noticed a lump on my dog's eye. Is it a stye? Should I call the vet?

Try applying a warm compress on it for five minutes at a time a couple of times day to see if that helps it drain. If it does not help, it gets bigger, or starts to bother him, then I would have him seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Take a warm compress, and apply it to the area for five minutes at a time a couple of times a day to see if that helps it drain. At this stage it is not possible to rule out that a small mass is developing (stye is possible, but a small benign tumor should be considered as well). A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a stye or infected eyelash or perhaps a very small eyelid mass (these are usually not concerning). Sometimes styes may go away on their own without any treatment. Eyelid masses will likely get larger over time. If it hasn't got down at all in the next few days or seems to be worsening, I would recommend Harley sees her veterinarian for this so they can take a closer look to determine what exactly this is and if it is a cause for concern or not and any appropriate treatment needed (like antibiotics). Hello, My name is Dr. Elizabeth and I am happy to help. That may be a sty but it could also be an infected hair follicle, blocked pore or other type of infection. If it's still there on Monday or if Caesar is still rubbing at it, I recommend to have him examined. In the mean time, have Caesar wear an elizabethan collar at all times. If he accidently scratches his eye while rubbing at it, he'll need to go to the vet before Monday. Have him wear the collar at all times. You can apply a warm compress to it every couple of hours for 10 minutes. This might help it to come to a head. If it ruptures, gently clean it with water and protect it from rubbing. This looks suspicious of a meibomian cyst-a cyst including a small gland around the eyelid. Many times they will "rupture" on their own but will regrow in the same area after this happens. I always recommend removal as they can become quite large and irritate the eye of he affected animal. If they are not surgically removed by your vet-normally part of the cyst remains and refills.
