My dog has a bleeding stomach tumor; antibiotics failed. What now?

Unfortunately there isn't really any way to shrink or remove a tumor without surgery, I have had some veterinarians have some luck in helping to stop bleeding from tumors with a Chinese medicine called yunnan baiyao. I would ask your vet if they feel this would be useful for your dog if the tumor is bleeding.

If this is a tumor it will not be possible to control the bleeding, it will keep on ulcerating and get worse day by day. ulcerated tumors must always been removed surgically, this is the only solution. #K sounds outrageous though for such a procedure which is quite simple, i would recommend contacting a dog charity in your area of living, i'm sure they can point you to a vet clinic that will do it for much less and might even be able to help with the payments.

I am not familiar with your previous questions regarding Sweetie but if the tumor is ulcerated, that is not typically a good sign. It sounds like tumor needs to be removed surgically. It is a bit difficult to advise you without seeing the tumor myself and I'm not 100% sure what your question is exactly. You want us to suggest something meaning what? To apply topically to the tumor? For bandaging? To stop the bleeding? I'm not exactly sure what you are looking for. If the tumor is ulcerated she is most likely going to need to get some antibiotics. It is also very difficult to give you advice if we don't know your location. Poor Sheba. If she has a bladder tumor then she will likely continue to have blood in her urine; although treatment with an anti-inflammatory (Piroxicam) can help. This medication can also slow the progression of the tumor. However to answer your question, antibiotics (if effective) will reduce bacterial numbers and show clinical improvement within 48-72 hrs after use. It is highly likely that if a tumor was seen in her bladder, that it is cancer. We often see transitional cell carcinoma affect the bladder. Ask your vet about palliative care options for Sheba if she seems to be in pain or in any discomfort. I wish you and Sheba all the best in the days to come.

Based on that location I would be very worried that this is a mammary tumor. This cannot be diagnosed with a blood test. A biopsy of the tissue must be taken and sent to a laboratory for testing in order to rule out a tumor. I, personally, would do a radical mastectomy removing all that swelling/mass and put a drain in there and stitch it closed. If it was a simple infection it would have cleared up by now with the treatment you have already provided so I think you need to do this as the next step.

That is a very large tumor that has likely outgrown its blood supply and is opening up. You can’t tell what type of tumor it is without aspirating the cells. At this point, the best option is to remove the tumor but it’s so large that this may be difficult but not impossible. I recommend to have this pup seen by the veterinarian as she needs medications to help the bleeding and a mass removal. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Poor guy. This does not appear to be just a lipoma (fatty tumor). I would highly recommend having Allie seen by your vet to get this tumor surgically removed and sent off for lab analysis to determine if this is a cancerous mass or a benign one. Hopefully it is benign and nothing to be worried about. The vet will likely place Allie on some antibiotics and pet friendly anti-inflammatory medication first to get the skin to calm down before surgical removal is done. But surgery is the best and often-times only option when a mass has gotten this large and has ulcerated. Until you can get her in, its best to clean this mass with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water to keep it from getting infected. Then rinsing with sterile saline from your local pharmacy.
