My dog is bleeding from her nose and in pain. What should I do?

Poor Bailey! Coughing up blood along with bleeding from the nose are quite serious, and I would take her into the vet now. This bleeding could be a sign of ulcers, an inability to clot blood, liver failure, respiratory disease, or cancer. Unfortunately, cancer is always a possibly in an old dog, and if she did have cancer that had spread to her lungs, it could cause these signs. I would take her into a vet right away. The vet can do routine blood tests, a urinalysis, x-rays, and possibly blood clotting tests to see what is causing her to cough up blood and have nose bleeds. Once the cause is found, the vet can determine what, if any, treatment is appropriate for her.

Poor Daisy! She is an older girl, and unfortunately this sneezing with blood in her snot could be due to a malignant growth (cancer) in her nasal cavity. It could also be due to a foreign body, fungal infection, or respiratory infection. Because this has been ongoing for a while, it's best that Daisy is seen by a vet either today or tomorrow. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, x-rays, and may look up her nasal cavity with an endoscope to diagnose what is causing her symptoms. Lexus really needs to go see a vet as soon as possible. A long term nose bleed is a medical emergency. My main concerns would be exposure to toxin that might affect his ability to clot his blood. This could be rat poison or another toxin. However a foreign object up his nose, trauma and infection can cause bleeding too. He needs to have blood work to detect if he is clotting his blood and make sure his platelet number is normal. If he will let you apply pressure to his nose and maybe even ice to the bride of the nose to slow the bleeding until you get him into a vet.

Bleeding from the rear end and heavy breathing can be a sign of potential poisoning that has led to a bleeding disorder. Or if your pet has not been vaccinated for parvovirus then there is a potential she could have parvo and the abnormal breathing is due to pain. Either condition warrants a veterinary visit asap to best diagnose your pet properly so that treatment can be stopped right away and hopefully you don't have to deal with a terrible tragedy involving your pet if this is dealt with quickly and efficiently.
