My dog bled after brushing her too hard near her lungs. Is she okay?

If it is that small and superficial, it may heal on its own though it is hard to know based on a picture. You can continue to monitor it for now. Hello. I think you just keep an eye on things this evening. More than likely Remy injured some of her oral mucosa which can bleed a lot with very little damage. Since she has been acting fine & eating normally, then there is no need to rush to the vet. See how she is tomorrow & decide if a visit is necessary, but it sounds as if the injury was superficial. If it continues to happen then it is concerning and she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. If she was chewing on a bone the blood could be from inflammation or an injury from the bone. Monitor her and schedule an appointment with your vet if you notice anything abnormal.

Yikes! I'm so glad you were there to stop this from becoming a much worse situation! His mouth should heal just fine. Offer some soft food as hard food may be a bit painful for the next couple of days, other than that you don't need to change anything. If it hasn't healed well within 4-5 days, take him to the vet. Keep an eye on the other dog as well; while you were able to get them untangled quickly when he was choking, sometimes dogs can develop whats called "non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema" after a choking incident, even a brief one. If he starts to cough, seems to be breathing faster than normally or is labored at all in his breathing, take him to the vet. Oxygen therapy may be needed, these guys usually recover but they do often need to spend some time in an oxygen cage. He very well may be fine and not develop these symptoms at all, but it is something you need to watch out for over the next 12-24 hours. Hello. It sounds like you can jut watch her overnight & see if there is any swelling, continued bleeding, either from the mouth or nose, & how comfortable she is eating & drinking in the morning. Hopefully, she will juts be a little bruised, & if she has no other problems except some swelling, there is no need to rush her in to your veterinarian. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Chancey! I would be concerned as well. Coughing blood is not normal. Possible causes are clotting or platelet issues, liver issues, cancer, heart worm disease, fungal or bacterial pulmonary disease. I would take her back for a recheck. I recommend full blood work, heart worm test and chest X-rays. I hope this helps and I wish Chancey the very best!
