Puppy's snout injured by door, bled. Should I take her to vet?

Hello. I think you just keep an eye on things this evening. More than likely Remy injured some of her oral mucosa which can bleed a lot with very little damage. Since she has been acting fine & eating normally, then there is no need to rush to the vet. See how she is tomorrow & decide if a visit is necessary, but it sounds as if the injury was superficial. Keep an eye on her and call your vet in the morning in case she does need to be seen. She may feel worse tomorrow because of being sore, but it's still a good idea to get her checked, especially if the other dog was larger and got a good bite in or shook her.

Your puppy looks like it is in serious pain. The eye also looks involved and it is possible the other dog bit your puppy behind the eye lid, which could be a reason for the blood from the nose. It would be best to have your puppy seen by a veterinarian preferably tonight. Brandy will need an exam to verify there is no eye damage, fracture of any of the facial bones. She will need prescription antibiotics, and pain medicine. This will likely swell up seriously and may also impede her breathing if there is an injury to the respiratory tract in the head.

Oh poor Stogie! If the bleeding has stopped and there is no swelling, I'd keep an eye on her for now. If you see swelling, the bleeding starts again, she stops eating, or becomes lethargic, then I would be worried and have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

I would be concerned if she develops difficulty breathing which could happen if the bleeding gets worse and she develops swelling of the airway, Based on the history and appearance of the pharynx, I would be worried that Luca may have a piece of the stick lodged behind the tissues. You need to discuss x-rays and or CT or surgery to explore the area. The damage to the tissues under the surface of the skin is often much more extensive than the small puncture seen on the skin. It's possible that this bite wound caused damage to his nasal passages, or even just enough soft tissue swelling and inflammation around his nasal passages to cause him to sneeze. Bite wounds also introduce a lot of bacteria and can become infected quickly. You should take Ruger to the vet now for evaluation. Your vet will want to do a full physical exam and may recommend sedating him to more extensively evaluate this puncture wound.
