My dog bit canned air. Is it toxic? What symptoms should I watch for?

As long as he is asymptomatic, there is no cause for concern. Monitor for lethargy, restlessness, hyperactivity, panting, increased heart rate or tremors. Symptoms typically appear within an hour or two of ingestion or exposure. See your veterinarian or take Monty to the nearest veterinary ER if necessary.

I would be concerned that she jumped because she fractured a tooth or injured herself on the can. She may have just been startled. A small amount of air freshener is likely to be bitter and may cause besides and vomiting. I recommend keeping a close eye on Marley. She should be seen by a vet if you think she is painful in the mouth (hypersalivating, guarding, etc) or is vomiting or lethargic. I hope this helps and that all is well with Marley!

Hello, and thank you for your question. It is difficult to tell whether Bentley ingested a toxic amount of the deodorant since it was a spray. Aerosols can contain hydrocarbons which are volatile compounds that can cause stomach upset. If you think she ingested a large amount of the spray, I would take her to the vet now just in case. Otherwise, I would monitor her for any vomiting or diarrhea. If this happens, I would contact your vet at that point. If mild diarrhea is seen, you can try fasting her for about 12 hours, then start offering small frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice. If toy do not believe there was anything in the box then I would monitor Casper for now. If you notice any symptoms such as lethargy, inappetance, vomiting or diarrhea, I would get him in to be examined by a veterinarian for further testing. Similar to humans, fumes can be irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract. If the ventilation was appropriate enough that you were comfortable then likely your dog was too. If you were wearing a mask then your dog probably should not be in that area. Watch for any coughing or difficulty breathing.
