My dog inhaled paint fumes. Are they toxic? Will symptoms be instant?

Hi, from your description if the events I also think your dog should be fine. However I would keep an eye on him over the next 8-12 hours, make sure he is eating, drinking and not having any different symptoms when breathing.

It is very very unlikely that such a small quantity of smoke could have affected your dog causing any toxicity, but if you notice any sign related to the respiratory tract (coughing sneezing persistent panting dyspnoea ) it would be best to have your dog checked at your local veterinarian.

Hi there! I am sorry to hear about Soda Pop's troubles. He very well could be sensitive to the paint fumes in the apartment below you as dogs have a very keen sense of smell. It also may be why he is rubbing his muzzle in the grass. I think it's great that you'll be spending a night away from the place to see how he acts. If he is fine, there's your answer. If he is still acting abnormally, it may be a good idea to sit and think of anything he could possibly have gotten into in your apartment - prescription drugs, toxins, etc. He may be having a reaction to something else, and the paint smell is a coincidence. If you think of anything, poison control is just a phone call away, and they usually have the most up and coming treatment recommendations for toxin ingestion of any kind. I would be concerned that she jumped because she fractured a tooth or injured herself on the can. She may have just been startled. A small amount of air freshener is likely to be bitter and may cause besides and vomiting. I recommend keeping a close eye on Marley. She should be seen by a vet if you think she is painful in the mouth (hypersalivating, guarding, etc) or is vomiting or lethargic. I hope this helps and that all is well with Marley!

As long as he is behaving normally, there is likely no cause for concern. The propellant in the can can cause local irritation such as redness or may cause excessive drooling. You can monitor him for those signs for the next 24 hours to make sure he is in the clear.

If Miracle is away from the area that was painted and being kept in a well-ventilated area, I wouldn't be too concerned. Once the painted rooms have aired out some, she should be OK to go back in there. If you notice any issues such as respiratory distress, coughing, sneezing, etc, then moving her back to ventilation is best.
