My dog still has ticks after Bravecto. Can I bathe her today?

Bathing and swimming should not take place for at least 24 hours after the application of a spot-on product such as Bravecto. I typically recommend at least 36 hours just to make sure we aren't washing away the medication.

No you should not be worried, in order for Bravecto to kill ticks, the ticks have to attach and feed on the dog. After giving Bravecto, it distributes to the tissue fluids just under the skin. When fleas and ticks feed, they ingest Bravecto and die. Bravecto kills 100% of ticks on dogs within 12 hours so it would not be unusual to see some live ticks during the first 12 hours that they attach. Remember to give the medication every 12 weeks.

I wouldn't mess with the remaining ticks, as if she's not letting you get them, you could potentially pull off their bodies and leave the heads, which could cause further irritation or infection. If you just gave the Bravecto, give it some time to work - it can take 12 hours to kill ticks that have latched on. If they aren't gone by tomorrow morning, let the vet take a look. 1 flea bite can make an allergic dog itch for several weeks so you may need medicine to treat the itching while the fleas get under control. You can administer the bravecto at any point when you remove the collar. A good bath will help also

That may not be a tick, but a small growth. The image is dark, so you would need to have him seen by your veterinarian for confirmation one way or the other. Bravecto is labeled to kill ticks within 12 hours, so if it is still there tomorrow, it probably isn't a tick.

Hello, sorry to hear about Brody. Bravecto has not been associated with any drug interactions, including any other topical flea medications. I would wait at least 2 weeks after your applied the Hearts medication before giving him the Bravecto. In addition to the extra flea preventative, you should also consider treating your environment for fleas. This includes washing bedding, vacuuming, and washing any clothing Brody may have direct contact with. This will hopefully reduce the flea burden in your environment to help you get control of the fleas. Only about 5% of the flea problem is what we see on our pets, the rest of the problem lies in our environment as eggs and immature life stages of fleas. When vacuuming, remember to not reuse the same vacuum bag. When spraying your environment with insecticide, remember to use products that are safe for pets and even then, if possible, remove them from the environment for 1-2 hours.
