Dog has fleas on Seresto. When can I give Bravecto after Advantage?

If you use a pest control service, tell them you are having a flea problem and they can adjust their treatment. Use a premise spray that also contains an IGR, insect growth regulator. This will keep eggs and larvae from maturing into adults and helps break the life cycle. Also, vacuum EVERY DAY, throwing out the bag or emptying the canister every time into an outside receptacle and spraying the contents with insecticide to kill the fleas you’ve vacuumed up. Treat your yard as well, since fleas are opportunistic and will hop a ride into your home on your pant leg without you knowing it. Concentrate on areas under bushes, in the shade. Fleas are less likely to be located in open sunny areas where it gets hot. If chemicals are a problem for you, you can use borax in your home. Sprinkle it into rugs, into corners and under furniture, use a broom to work it into the fibers and let it sit for hours, days even. It won't hurt you or your cat to have it present. Then vacuum it up, reapply as needed. Food grade diatomaceous earth can be gotten from a health food store and worked into the rugs and corners in the same way as borax. These treatments aren't as fast and effective as chemical insecticides but they can help. You might want to consider boarding your pet for the day at your vet, to give you the opportunity to flea bomb your house without having to worry about your pet being exposed. They can bathe your pet and give a dose of Capstar while you treat your home. Be patient, you may have to repeat these steps multiple times 10-14 days apart to help break the flea life cycle.

Yes, you can give bravecto. However, in addition to giving this medication, you will likely need to treat your environment for fleas as well. This can be achieved by spraying your yard and house with a flea insecticide and washing her bedding and clothing at least 2-3 times weekly. Hope this helps and best of luck.

The Seresto collar works by using a slow, continuous release of medication onto the skin and fur - so as soon as you remove it, the level of medication on Prada's skin will immediately start to drop. The active ingredient (imidicloprid) also has a very high margin of safety in dogs, so it should be fine to go ahead and apply Advantage the same day that you remove the collar.

Hello, sorry to hear about Brody. Bravecto has not been associated with any drug interactions, including any other topical flea medications. I would wait at least 2 weeks after your applied the Hearts medication before giving him the Bravecto. In addition to the extra flea preventative, you should also consider treating your environment for fleas. This includes washing bedding, vacuuming, and washing any clothing Brody may have direct contact with. This will hopefully reduce the flea burden in your environment to help you get control of the fleas. Only about 5% of the flea problem is what we see on our pets, the rest of the problem lies in our environment as eggs and immature life stages of fleas. When vacuuming, remember to not reuse the same vacuum bag. When spraying your environment with insecticide, remember to use products that are safe for pets and even then, if possible, remove them from the environment for 1-2 hours. I would recommend to wait a couple of days before applying the new flea treatment. Give him a bath the same day you remove the collar, wait 48 hours and then apply the drops. Here is a list of good quality flea (and ticks) treatment. Spot ons: Revolution, Advantage, Advantage Multi, Bravecto spot on (ticks as well), Comfortis. A good house spray (just in case) would be Indoorex. I recommend you consider using a product called Capstar which is to kill a lot of fleas at once to complement a flea preventative product like Advantage. You can go ahead and give another dose of Advantage now as well. I would not give up on Advantage just yet. Continue to use it for now as this flea may be was a one time occurrence and the Advantage was still being effective. Another option is switching to Bravecto now though again Advantage may still be effective so it may be best to exhaust its use. Good luck and have a great day!
